Hi, I’m Jenny Mancuso, the founder of PuraPups LLC, but before that, I was (and still am) a certified positive reinforcement canine trainer and behaviorist. My journey in dog training has taught me that a dog’s behavior isn’t just about obedience or commands—it’s about their overall well-being, and at the core of that well-being is nutrition.

The Connection Between Nutrition & Behavior

When I get called in to work with dogs struggling with behavior issues, the first thing I assess isn’t just their training history or environment—it’s their diet. Just like humans, dogs cannot function at their best if they aren’t getting the proper nutrients their bodies need. Deficiencies in essential vitamins, minerals, and omegas can lead to everything from anxiety and hyperactivity to sluggishness and poor learning retention. If we don’t fuel our own bodies properly, we can’t operate at 100%, and the same applies to our furry companions.

The Search for Healthy, Safe Dog Treats

Through my work, I realized a major issue: finding truly wholesome, balanced, and safe dog treats was harder than it should be. Most treats on the market are either filled with unnecessary preservatives, artificial dyes, and harmful chemicals or lack real nutritional value. After years of searching for something I could wholeheartedly recommend to my clients (and feed to my own dogs), I kept hitting a dead end.That’s when I knew I had to take matters into my own hands.

A Mission to Change the Way We Treat Our Dogs

I made it my mission to create clean, nutritious, and truly beneficial dog treats—ones that pet parents don’t have to feel guilty about giving. My golden rule has always been:

“If you wouldn’t eat it, then your dog shouldn’t eat it either.”

At PuraPups, every single treat is crafted with human-grade ingredients, free from unnecessary fillers, artificial additives, or anything that doesn’t serve your dog’s health. I believe that our dogs deserve the same level of care and quality in their food as we do in ours.

There is nothing more rewarding than hearing from pet parents whose dogs are thriving because of what they’re eating. When a client tells me their dog’s bloodwork came back perfect, their coat is shinier, their energy is balanced, and they just seem happier overall, I know that this mission is making a real impact.

I do what I do because I love dogs with all my heart, but also because I see the hope and joy in the faces of the pet parents who just want the best for their fur babies.

At the end of the day, it’s simple: Better food means better health, better behavior, and better lives for our dogs. And that’s what PuraPups is all about.
